WHAS11 of Louisville, Kentucky covered the Koch family’s progress converting the abandoned Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom into Bluegrass Boardwalk. As the video shows, a lot of work lies ahead. Plants and weeds entangle the attractions, paint is chipping everywhere, and the lake is brown and polluted.
But the news report builds some optimism for the park’s future. The Koch family takes service and cleanliness very seriously; they plan to incorporate many of their amenities from Holiday World at Bluegrass Boardwalk. This includes some of the Indiana park’s celebrated offerings, like free sunscreen and soda, but also its strict guest misconduct policy and ban on alcoholic beverage sales.
How will Louisville (re)welcome this new park? We’ll have to wait and see next summer.
